In the Nelson Museum is " a key and horseshoe- from Salisbury Oastle." A correspondent writing to a local paper says :—": — " I should not like to doubt the authenticity of the above-mentioned, but still should like to know, in the first place, where Salisbury Oastlo is? and in the 'second place, to /.rejate a\ short . story. Some 60 yeara ago, the ,Ar'cha3ological Society of England were ' visiting " Old Sarum " in Wiltshire, with the purpose of making exoavations to discover Roman remains. The first day nothing was found. Of course, they adjourned to resume on the next. My two eldest brothers whilst looking over farms, &c. near, picked up a key and horseshoe, thought they would " take a rise " out of the aforesaid Archrelogical Sooiety, so they went in the evening and planted the key and horseshoe. As a matter of course they were found on the next day, and great was the rejoicing thereat. Now, sir, I cannot help thinking, is it a case of " Bill Stumps, his mark?" Aa an uiter Btranger, will any of your subscribers tell me ?"

The CoraiTiissioner had also given him power to use the telegraph poleo, and' had granted such facilities as the Electrio Lines Act would permit. Dr. Lemon has promised the Council the use of a dynamo of 400 lamp power, with whioh to make a practical test. This is how the colonial money is being wasted for tho benefit of Wellington. Why should the dynamo which was bought by tho colony for the use of Parliament House_ be diverted for other purposes. Wellington gets more than her uhare of the colonial revenue wo think.
