ELECTION ADDRESSES.
MR. SAMUEL AT UPPER MANGOREI. Mb. Samuel addressed the eleotors at the Upper Mangorei schoolhouse on Tuesday evening. Nearly every elector in the vicinity attended," and Mr. W. J. Wells was elected chairman and introduced the candidate.
Mi. Samuel delivered a long address, in which he dealt with most of the leading questions necessary for consideration by the settlers in deciding whom to send to represent them. Whilst shortly adverting to the other candidates he avoided all personality or abuse, and warned his hearers of the danger of returning men who instead of trying to show themselves qualified did little else but abuse, misrepresent, and vilify their adversaries. At the conclusion many questions were aßked and answered, and Mr. Olivbb proposed, and Mr". Coad seconded, a vote of thanks and confidence in Mr. Samuel.
The chairman, before putting the motion, asked the eleotors to recollect what they were about to do, as to vote for suoh a motion was to pledge themselves to support Mr. Samuel; and he hoped those present would vote on that understanding. He then put the motion, which was carried without a dissentient. A vote of thanks to the ohair terminated the' proceedings.
