The Oakura Licensing Committee met on Tuesday, in Towson's store, at Oakura, whenv Mr. G. Newman presided. The business was to consider the transfers of the licenses of the Moturoa hotel from Ohas. Scherer to Mrs. Urquhart, and the Omata hstel from Thos. Peuwarden to R. Julian. Both transfers were granted. The police reports were favorable.

The following are the correct numbers of voters in the Now Plymouth and Taranaki electorate's :— New Plymouth, 1477 ; Taranaki, 1539. As these numbers are far larger thaa those oa the roll in 1884 a good deal of extra work will be attached to this election than there was at the last.

The Union Bandjjof Hope 'choir, oonduoted by Mr. H. J. Bianohett, held a praotioe in the" Wesleyan Schoolroom on Tuoudoy. night, of the temperanoe cantata "The rescue of Harry Gvey." The practice went off very wel!, but a few more male voices are required. It is intended to give it to the publio in about five weeks time.
