TO THE EDITOR. Sin, — In your issue of the 3rd appears a letter from E. T. Cartwright vindicating his rights to the award at the Wellington Exhibition, which certainly he can claim, as the firm of Cartwright and Carthew had been dissolved previous to the Exhibition beini* held, myself retiring to proceed on a visit to England. The firm spoken of is one of the oldest firms of boot upper manufacturers in the colony, being carried on successfully for many years by A. R. and F. Goodacre, who established its reputation . They rotiring, I having been their cutter or clicker, still carried on the business, and, after a time, took in E. T. Cartwright as a partner, and continued to carry on all the practical part of the same while we wore in partnership, and maintained tho reputation the firm had previously gained, leaving it to E. T. Gartwright when retiring ; so, of course, he being the owner of the business at the time of the Exhibition has the riqlit to all the honours as well as the justice he claims from you in rogard to the correction. Regretting your report, although substantially correct, technically was slightly in error, should have caused E. T. Cartwright'e feelings to be disturbed, — I am,&o., P. R. Cabthew, Egmont Boot and Shoe Co., Devon-st.
