LARGE FIRE AT HAWERA.
CLUB HOTEL BURNT DOWN. | PER PRESS ABSOOIATION.J Haweba, June 7—A serious fire occurred at Hawera at five o'clock this morning, when Spalding's Club Hotel was burnt down. The hotel had about 20 rooms. The fire broke out in the kitchen. The whole building: was consumed in about an hour. The Union Bank buildings are seriously and the post-office slightly damaged. Everything was removed from the post and telegraph offices within half an hour. It will take some time to fix up the instruments, etc, and resume business at the telegraph office. Insurances : Hotel building £600, and • furniture £350, both in Phoenix ;. postmaster's furniture £225 in the same office. All the postmaster's furniture was saved. The hotel furniture was burnt.
