OBITUAEY.
DEATH OF MR. W. J. WESTON. The grave to-day will close over the remains of Mr. William Joseph Weston, whose death, although apparently sudden, was but the expected termination of an insidious disease which for years he had been suffering from. A little more than twelve months ago Mr. Woston, thinking to benefit his health, removed his family from Sydney to New Plymouth, and, purchasing the property of the late Captain Skeet, at Fitzroy, haß resided there ever i since. At first the change seemed to have ' a beneficial effect, but during the last few months a visible alteration was noticed by those who were more intimately acquainted with him, and he finally sacoambed to the disease, dying on Sunday evening! ; laßt about 7 o'clock, passing away like one going quietly to sleep. Mr. Weston 'camo out to New Zealand in 1851, and passedthe early days of his life in New, Ply-" mouth; but about eighteen years since he. went to Sydney, wnere he established" himself. The deceased gentleman united to d sound judgment and consummate business tact, a kindly disposition and generous nature. He was a lover of all that was artistic and refined, and had he been spared would have made his property at Fitzroy an exquisite place. His collection of pictures too was most choice, showing he had an artist's eye in the selection he trad made. We would not remove, the veil which appropriately bides from the outer world the privacies of his domestio life, but we may state that , be was sustuined and comforted daring the last days qf his life by the presence of his brothers, Mr. T/8. Weston, of OhristchUrch^and Mr. Henry: Weston'. ■ , Mr. Weston, his: other brother, left by the last mail boat for San Francisco, and will only learn of the- sad news on his arrival at that city. The deceased leaves a widow and seven children — three boys and four girls— to. mdurn their loss. ■. The funeral took place at 4 o'clock today, the deceased gentleman being buried • in the family vault in St. .Mary's jshurcliyard, -the Yen. „ Archdeacon "Govett officiating, ■ • \^~V t ' — — — — —— — — —^
