EDITOR,— WhiIe spending a fewdays at the pleasant seaside town of Aberystwith, Cardiganshire, Wales, I heard related what seemed to me either a fabulous story or a marvellous cure. The ftory was that a poor sufferer who had not beun able to lie down in bed for six long years, given up to die by nil the Doctors, had been speedily cured by Eomo Patent Medicine. It waß related with the mere implicit confidence from the circumstance, as was raid, that the Vicar of Llanrystyd w»3 familiar with the facto, and could vouch for the t uth of the report. Having a little curiosity to know how such stories grow in travelling, I took the liberty while at the village of Lianrystyd to call upon the Vicar, the ftev. T. Evans, and to enquire, abcut this wonderful cure, Thoegh s total stranger to hisn, both he and his wife most graciously entertained me in a half hour's conversation, prineipa'ly touching the caieof Mr. Pogh, ia which they seemed to tako & deep and sympathetic interest, having bsen familiar with his sufferings, and now rt joiced in what seemed to them a most remarkab'e cure. The Vicar remarked that he presumed his acme had been connec ed with the report from hi* having mentioned the case to Mr. John '1 homos, a chemittcf Liar on, dosiid Mr- Pugh was formerly a resident of their "pa-i h, but was now living in the parish of Llanddeinol. He Bt-ongly vouched Vr. Wm. Pugh's chatacter as a respectable fsrmer aad -ronhy ofcredP. I left the venerab!e "Vicar *ith a livelier cenae of 'he happy relation of a p&stor and people, feeling that he was one who truly sympathised with all who are affliotedia mine*, body, aad estate, On my return to Aberj st 1 * ith, I was impressed with a desire to see Mr. Pugb, whosa reputation stood so high. His farm is called . ancom-Mawr, signifying '■ above the dingle," situated near the sntumit of a smooth round hill, overlooking a beautiful va'ley in which is a' touted the lovely ivy-mantle I Chu'ch of Llanddeinol. I found Mr. Pugh, apparently about 40 years old, of modium heig t. rather slight, with a plea-ant aad intelligent faoe. I told him I had head of his great affliction and cf his r.-markab'e and almost miracu'oua r.-litf, and that I bad comeuto learn from h's own Hp 3, what there was cf truth in the reports. Mr. Pogh remarked that his neiihbours had taken a kindly ard sjmpathetic interest in his case f:r many years, bnt of lite their interest had been greatly awakened by a happy change in hi 3 catdiiion. What you report of having heard abroad, said ha, is Bobstsn iallv true, with one exception. I rever undeistood tbat my c»se wss ever given up as hopeless by any Physician. I have been treated by g«veral Doctors hereabouts, ss good as any in Wul.a but unfortunately no preEcription of theirs ever brought the desired relief. Fifteen years ago, he said, I first beoame conscious of a tour and deranged stomaoh asd loss of rppetite, which the Doctors told me was Dyspepsia. What fcod I cou d hoi.' in my stomach seemed to do me no good and was ( f ten thrown up wi'h painful retchings. 1 his was followed alter a time with hoawenofs and a raw soreness of the throat whioh the Doctors caUel bronotitis, aud I was treated for that but with little success. Thon came sbortness cf breath and a seosoof suffocation especially nights, with clammy sweat, and I would have to go out of bed and torn times o; en a door cr window in winter weatnor to fill my lunga with tho cold air. About six years ago I became so bad that I could not sleep in bod. but had to take my unquitt rtst and dro&my sleep sitting in an armchair. A3 y affliction seemed to bo worklog downward into my bowels as well as upwards into my lungs and tiiroat. Ii the violent coughing spasms which grew more frequent, my abdomen would expind and colla{ so and at times it wi uld seem that I should suffocite. All this time I was reduced in sirength to that I could perform 1 o hard labour and my spirits were consequently much depreasod. Eaily in this last spring I had a etill more severe spasmodic-attac*, and my family and neighbours bo;amo alarmed, believiag ihtt certainly I would not surv ye, when a ceigntour, who had some knowledge, or had heard of themed cine, cent to Aberjstwith by the driver oi ''.he Cmoibus I'oat, s m; seven mi cb difctand, and fetch da bottle of Mother eige''d Curative t-yrup, Thia medicine they admioiitrittd to mo actordi-g to tho diiejtious. when totheinurjrisa and delight no loes than my own, the spism ceased, I became nt easo, and my stomach cahi ed My bowels were moved as by a gentle cathartic, and I folt a benfD of quiet comfort all through such os I bad not lefoic retlized in many years I con d walk around tfie hi use end broatha comfort 1b y iv a fo<v hcura after I had taken the mtdiciat-.
