SAL 13 OF WELCOME JACK.

Mr. D. F. Mackay, ot Singloton, New South Wales, who sold. Sir Modred to an American buyer, has purchased . the well-known Now Zealand racehorse Welcome Jack for stud purposes in the Singleton district. Like Sir Modred, Welcome Jack is by Traducer but he is even more stoutly bred than his relative. His dam is Miss Flat by tho imported horse Peter Flat (a grandson of the mighty^ Touchstone), and her dam'was Mountain Nymph (imp.), by tho English St. Leger" winner Sir Tatton Sykcs. His breeding alone should suffice, to make Welcome Jack a popular sire, but on the principle that " like begets like " it is also interesting to know that he was ithe best racehorse ever produced by Traducer. was champion of New Zealand, and won about 18"racea under all weights and over all distances. — Sydney Morning Herald.
