FEARFUL WEATHISR ON EAST COAST
Auckland, September 15.
The Southern Cross, from Gisborne, had a stormy passage. Eight bullocks died, and 220 sheep were drowned on the deck. Au accident happened to the rnachiuery, whioh stopped the engines for ten hours, and during the height of the gale the topsail and mainsail were blown away.
SUICIDE I^ AUCKLAND.
Henry Hall, for mauy years tickettaker at the Opera House and Theatre Royal, committed suicvla by Qriug a pistol into his moutli. He used a theatrical property pistol, with a large charge of powder, but no bullet was discharged. He smashed his faca and shattered his jaw, and died after suffering great agouy. He mado a will and a statement as to the cause of the act, but its contents are not known. He has been engaged in betting transactions lately, and his mind seetnoJ to be affected.

A woman named Sarah Keunefc couiiuittGcl suicido by jumping off the outer end of tho wharf last evening. Tho body has boon recovered.
