QUESTION OF TITLE IN" SAMOA.
■ Auckland, September 8. In the Supreme Court, Fiji, the case of Maonama v. W. McArthur and Co., •involving the title of lands in Samoa and £20,000 damages for wrongful occupation, was concluded an- hour before the Arawata sailed from Suva. The case was heard before Mr. Justice Clark, who reserved his decision ia the case, bxit his remarks vverty t plainly indicated that he favoured the contention of claimant's counsel.
FIRE AT WAITOA.
A sis- roomed cottage belonging to J. W. Moffatt, Waitoa, was burned down shortly after midnight on Monday. r Xh& buildiug was isured in the New Zealand office for £150, and the furniture for £100 in the same office.

Ne*s from Samoa, via Fiji, states that us soon as the warships left Apia haibour, svar between King Maleatoa and the rebel clnef i'amiehe broke out afre&h. it ia also reported that one of Iho crew of the American warship Molncau was clubbed to death by a native ior insults offered to bis wife.
Makin, a uative, who was found guilty ot brutally murdering a chief, has been hanged in the Suva gaol.
BKADSHAW MEMORIAL. Duxedin, September 8.
At a meeting of the factory operatives it was decided to raise aubsctiptions for a Bradshaw memorial, and seek assistance throughout the colony. It. was stated that the family were indifferently provided for.
