[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DISEASED MEAT. Auckland, July 16. The Aucklaud City Council last night authorised tho prosecuting of the butchers who sold cancerous cow for human food. The enquiry mado by the Butchers' Association shows that a diseased animal was bought at the sole yards for 803., and was slaughtered at the Abattoirs formally condemned, and then taken to a butcher's shop and sold to the other butchers for 12s. per cwt. The latter, fiuding it unfit for consumption, returned it, when it was sent to a boiling down establishment. RACEHORSES FOR SYDNEY. Christchurch, July 10. Mr. O'Brien's horses Trenton aud Trotter Tina wore shipped by the Wakatipu for Sydney yesterday. OFF TO KIJIBERLEY. The barque Onyx sailed for Kimberley yesterday, taking 12 passengers. EXTRAORDINARY MATRIMONIAL COMPLICATIONS. The extraordinary case, in which Mr. Messenger has instituted procoediugs against his wife for stealing his goods, came on again yesterday at the Magistrate's Court. Mr. Beetham, considering the circumstances of the case, that the husband had been recently brought back from Australia on the charge of wife desertion, which it had been expedient not to go on with, because his wife could not legally give evidence against him, positively declined to issue a warrant for the apprehension of Mrs. Messenger, who is in Auckland, and told informant he could apply to the Supreme Court for a mandamus if he liked. ACCIDENT ON THE RAILWAY. Dunedin, July IG. A fatal accident occurred on the Otago Central Bailway yesterday, when a man named Charles Nixon was killed by jumpiug off a truok to put on the brake. He appeared to have slipped, and the loaded truck passed over him. It is believed he is a widower, without family.
