LANDING PASSENGERS FROM. STEAMERS.

TO TIIE EDITOR. Sib, — I do not know who is to blame, but it seems strange that when the Union steamers como into your harbour of a night the passengers havo no means of getting on shore. Surely the Harbour Board might make arrangements for a boat to come oil* to up, and thus give us an opportunity of passing the night on shore insteaJ of having to lie awake in our bunks wishing it was morning. It is not once or twice that this has happened to me when travelling on tbis coast ; and after a somewhat rough passage down, although we may be in the smooth water of the harbour, the berths are not so comfortable to sleep in as a bed at one of the hotels. Hoping you will draw attention to this matter. — I am, &c, Ose of the Passengers. [We do not see why an arrangement could not be raado with the boatmen without incurring additional oxpenso to the Harbour Board. The men could be nllowed to absent themselves when no steameis were expected, to make up for the extra work. It is only once a week that a steamer arrives in the evening; and it is bound to injure our port if passengers are prevented from landing on their arrival. We hope to hear of this matter being rectified. — Ed, T.H.']

Hollow ay's Ointment and Fills. — Notable Facts. — Intense heat augments the annoyances of skin disease, nnd encourages the development of febrile disorders ; wherefore they should, as they may, be removed by these detergent and purifying preparations. In stomach complaints, liver affections, pains and spasms of the bowels, Holloway's ointment well rubbed over the affected part immediately gives the greatest ease, prevents congestion and inflammation, checks the threatening: diarrhoea nnd averts incipient cholera. The poorer inhabitants of larger cities will find these remedies to be their best friend when any pestilence rages, or when from unknown causes, eruptions, boils, abscesp, or ulcerntions betoken the presence of taints or impurities within the system, and call for instant and effective curative mediciuee. 10 (For continuation o1 news see 4th page.)
