The message does not give the Par nellite returns for the three countries, but Reuter states them to bo 75. Mr. Trevelyau was defeated by 30 votes, Mr. Arch by 20 s and Mr. T. Healy by 138. Eeuter telegraphs tho information that a coalition Ministry by the Marquis of Salisbury and the Marquis of Hartington has been mooted a3 the outcome of the political crisis. Mr. Gladstone, in reviewing the elections, stated that Wales and Sootland had seen their duty towards Ireland quickly, but England had yefc to learn hers slowly and painfully. The Times advocates the formation of a Hartington-Salisbury Ministry. A cable message in the Melbourne Age says that, in addressing a public meeting in Birmingham after his election, Mr. John Bright denounced Mr. Gladstone for his want of oondour in coucealiug his opinions on the question of Home Eule from the members of his party until the measure was actually introduced in the House of Commons. It is also stated that the defeat of several supporters of Mr. Gladstone is ascribed to Mr. Bright's opposition to Home Rule. A Unionist candidate secured the seat for Skipton (Yorkshire), held last Parliament by fc>ir Mathew Wilson, Liberal. Conservatives have gained the South Dorset and Leek (Staffordshire) divisions, previously represented by Messrs. Sturgess and Crompton, Liberals.
