Wo supply our readers to day with a full report of the commencement of the debate on the Now Plymouth Harbour Bill. They will then see how grossly Colonel Trimble misrepresented tho question, and also how he maligned the .New Plymouth settlers. Mr. Mayhew, the recently appointed second master of the Central School, will take up his duties on Monday. Captain Edwin telegraphed at 11.55 a.m. to-day:— Wind will blow from between east and north nnu mrth-wost after 12 hours from now. Glass further full, with wanner weather, h .ivy ruin and heavy sea, and very hish tides ior 24 hours after next high water. That Now Plymouth is to bo the port from which stock from the whole of the West Coast will bo exported to Australia is a fact which is already beginning to be recognised in Wnnganui and that neighborhood. Mr. Freeman R. Jackson, of Wangenui, has intimated to the local agent of tho Union Company his intention of pending 30 horses from tho breakwater by the Wakatipu to Sydney on her next trip It is not yet known whether the steamer will bo able to reserve accommodation for them. A correspondent, signing himself " Lookor-on," has written to ua expressing his surprise at tho " meagre description of the Fishermen 1!*1 !* Concert " in our issue of Wednesday, and says ho thinks that those who cheerfully gave their time to rehearse and perform deserved mention as well as tho '' fishing nets and Chinese lamps that adorned the stage." Surely those who pave their services did so for tho benevolent object for which tho concort wns given, and not for tho prniso that they expected to receno in a newspaper notice. We published the programme on tho evening of tho performance. With a view to greatly reduce stock and at tho same timo enable the public to procure good furniture, carpets, pianos, &c., during tho dull times, J. C. Georgo will offer tho whole of his stock at a small advance on cost, at tho old premises, corner of Devon and Liardet-streets.-Auv.
