DR. WANSTALL'S LITERARY ENTERTAINMENT.

The spell of ill-luck which Dr. Wnnstali has hitherto seeming labored under in his literary entertainments has evidently been broken, for at the Freemason's Hall last night one of tho best houses that htivo gathered within its walls greeted the talented elocutionist. Punctually at 8 o'clock, His Worship the Mayor took the ' chair, and introduced Dr. Wanstall, who, before proceeding with the recitation of "Aylmer's Field," gave a short but exhaustive account of the career of the author, tho poet Tennyson, now Lord Tennyson. The poem occupied the whole of the evening in delivering, and the varied scenes which are described so vividly were enchantingly recounted by the most faultless elocution. To find his audience absorbed and pleased could not but react on the speaker, and the narrative was undoubtedly herrJ to the best advantage. At the conclusion, Dr. Wanstall said he could not refrain from expressing his gratification at meeting with such ii cordial and sympathetic reception. He also thanked the ladies and gentlemen who had assisted to bring about the successful result ; and the meeting closed, amidst applause, with the usual vote to the chair.
