Jolt 1. — The Crown Lands Ranger, Mr. Robinson, has, I hear, arranged to open up a road through the bush, which will traverse about six and a half miles of a native reserve. The total length of road to be opened is between eight and nine miles, and wiil be let in one mile contracts to the natives. The work consists of felling the timber through the bush a chain wide, sixteen feet in the centre to be cleared and stumped.
