These Scholarships are open to all persons born in the Colony of New Zealand, who, at tke time of examination, shall be between the ages of sixteen and twenty years, and who shall Sitisfy the Couccil that they would not be able to obtain a University education without pecuniary aid. Candidates must pats a preliminary examination in elementary mathematics ; nnd each Candidate will be examined in two or three of the following subjects : — (I) Chemistry, (2) Physics, (3) Zoology, (4) Botany, (5) Geology. Special weight will be given to attainments and capacity in Zoology and Botany for the Sinclair Scholarship, and in Chemistry and Electricity for the Gillies Scholarship.
