WELLINGTON JEWEL ROBBERY.

ALLENDALE PLEADED GUILTY TO ROBBERY. DESCRIBES HOW THE DEED WAS COMMITTED. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, June 5.— -At the Police Court this morning Allendale, arrested at Ohristchurch for the jewellery robbery here, was brought up, when it was found he had confessed to the crime. It appears that he sent for the detective at 8 this morning, and stated to him that he (Allendale) committed the burglary at 1 a.m. on 27th May. He cut through the door, and finding tho coast clear took everything he could conveniently carry away. He was not as at first supposed disturbed, but got clear -with a large number of articles, and placing them in an old whiskey keg, buried them in the back premises attached to the Te Aro Hotel, at which place ho had been employed as waiter. It was his intention to have proceeded to Sydney and dispose of the articles, bat not being possessed of sufficient ready cash decided to go to j Christchurch to raise wind by pawning or selling a few gold watches. Alleudalo says he left for Lytlelton the same day as the robbery was committed, and in Christchurch he disposed of four gold watches and three gold alberts. He was about to return to Wellington, and then remove the remainder of his " swag " to Sydney, when he was arrested. The detective made a search | of the locality, and found the jewellery where the accused had stated, except of course the articles in custody of the Christchurch police. This morning a remand was asked for, and the prisoner replied that the case may as well proceed, as he intended pleading guilty. So far as accomplices are ' spoken of, Davis, the mulatto, who j was arrested on suspicion of being j concerned in the burglary, was discharged from custody, the Magistrate remarkiug, " without stain on his character." Allendalo was remanded till Wednesday.
