POLICE COURT.

Wednesday, October 3.— Before C. E. Rawson, Esq. R.M. FRAUDULENT BANKRUPTCY. Augustus Andrews, alias Augustus Ratlin, was charged with having on the 2nd October 1883, at Auckland, defrauded his creditors to the amount of £600. Mr. Pardy stated that the prisoner was arrested this morning on board the Hawea from information telegraphed by the police in Auckland. The prisoner had £213 in his possession, and, as he was a bankrupt, he had certainly no right to have such a sum of money. He had telegraphed to Auckland for a warrant, and in the meantime he would ask that the prisoner be remanded until Monday next. That was the earliest time the prisoner could be sent back to Auckland, as although there were intermittent steamers leaving the Waitara, no dependance could be placed upon them. The prisoner was remanded until Monday next at 10. 30 a.m.
