The barque Port Glasgow, which arrived in Wellington laßt Tuesday, will leave that port for New Plymouth on Saturday next. She has on board 1,000 tons of waterpipes for the town water supply. We would remind our readers of the extensive sale of valuable furniture to be held in the Freemasons' Hall to-morrow in the estate of the late William Halse. It will be sold without reserve at two o'clock punctually. Amongst notable English land-owners who are selling their ancestral estates in order to emigrate to New Zealand nmy bo mentioned Mr. Arkwright, of Overton Hall, Derbyshire, one of the moat beautiful places in the Midlands. A society paper, commenting on the occurrence, says — " It is a somewhat remarkable thing for a hearty English fox-hunting squire, like Mr. Arkwright, to abandon his houses and lands and modes of life to take up his residence in, metaphorically speaking, a land where they know not Joseph. Mr. Arkwright goes to New Zealand, where he has bought an extensive estate, with the well-wishes of hundreds of people in the Midlands, where he was widely esteemed for his many 1 excellent parts. He will bo accompanied by tho Hon. Mrs. Arkwright."
