Friday, Juno 16. — Before His Honor Mr. District Judge Rawson. In Bankruptcy. — Re W. Williams, a debtor. The further examination of the debtor was resumed. — Mr. Hughes, with Mr. Barton, appeared for Mr. North, a judgment creditor. — Tho debtor stated that he negotiated for tho Government the purchase of a block of land froii the natives, and he became liable to his sons and others for about £G,OOO for goods, etc., advanced to the natives on account of tho purchase. The Government Agent (Mr. Gillon) paid the natives a cheque of £5,411. The natives gave him the cheque to get cashed, but he heard that they were going to vwru, the money if he returned it to them ; so as they had approved of the accounts he had against them, he kept the money. He afterwards paid the monoy away to his sons, himself, and others in liquidation of tho accounts due by the natives, for which he bad rendered himself responsible. Out of the £5,400, ho paid his sons £1,500 ; and after he had paid the other claims there was still a sum of £1,800 due by the natives. Tho total claim of his sons against him on account of the natives was £3,422 12s. He paid them £1,500, and transfered property of the value of £1,922 12s. to them. [It was this transfer by the debtor to his sons which Mr. North tried to upßet]. The further examination of the debtor was adjourned until to-day (Monday).
