CIVIL ACTION AGAINST THE GOVERNOR.

[FROM A WEIiUNOTOM CORRESPONDENT.] June 15. — Mr. Hunt, of Samnan notoriety, is pursuing his action against Sir A. Gordon for eight thousand pounds damages for forcible removal from the Island of Samoa, which removal was made at the instance of Sir A. Gordon, as Hi<rh Commissioner of the Western Pacific. The position of affairs at present is as follows : — Hunt has served the writ and declaration on Sir A. Gordon, who pleaded (1) that he took action by virtue of an Order in Council ; (2) that a New Zealand Court had no jurisdiction ; and (3) that if it had, a New Zealand Court would be debarred by reason of tho case having been heard and disposed of by the Supreme Court of Fiji. Hunt's replication is that an Order in Council is ultra rlres as regards Simon, and purposes following tho Governor to England, if necessary. It is not impossible that this matter mj.y delay the Governor's departure.
