CABLE MESSAGES.

[reuter's telegrams.] NEW ZEALAND BHIP ARRIVED HOMB. London, June 12. Arrived: Ship Manx Queen, from Port Chalmers, on the 21st February. RUMORED DEATH OF HANLAN. A rumor is current here this evening that Hanlan, the Canadian oarsman, is dead. The report, however, is discredited, and requires confirmation. LATE RIOT AT ALEXANDRA. Alexandra, June 12. Enquiries which have been made into the cause of the emeute which ocourred in this city on the evening of the 10th June, have elicited the fact that it originated from a street quarrel between a Greek and an Egyptian, and, owing to the strong ill-feeling that was prevalent in the city against the European residents, the natives attacked some of the latter who were present, and the disturbance increased, until it was found necessary to call out the military. The statement that the British Consul was seriously wounded during the disturbance is fully confirmed; and it has been ascertained that the Italian Consul was also wounded, and that twenty persons were killed on the occasion.
