CHRISTIAN CHARITY. TO THE EDITOR.
Si it, — As your contemporary has closed the correspondence on this subject, might I ask the favour of your inserting the following letter in your columns ? — I am,

To the Editor Taranali News,
Dear Sin, — As you are not responsible for opinions expressed by correspondents, I trust you will have no hesitation to find room in your columns for the following remarks, having reference to a letter headed as above, and signed " A. Boswell," winch appeared in your issue of the 28th of last month (my paper being a week overdue will account for'my not writing sooner).
The letter I speak of referred to the wonderful love manifested towards a poor woman in refusing her Christian burial on account of the deceased having not prior to death conformed to the ceremonies of the church.
What more appropriate can I place here than the words which Shakespeare puts in the mouths of the players : " A minist'ring angel shall my sister be, when thou liest howling." I would here say that I read the letter with extreme delight, and rejoiced to think there was one to be found in New Plymouth independent enough to apeak out boldly and cry down the barbarous relics of past ages ; at the same time I was grieved that mich a circumstance had arisen to call forth such a letter.
Mr. Boswell, in the last clause, says, '' My opinion is the poor woman will rest just as peacefully by the Relieving Officer reading the burial service as if both the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Pope of Rome had jointly performed the said service." Now, Sir, such is my opinion, and it is the opinion of a great number whom I know, both at Inglewood and New Plymouth. I may .also add, that having been trained in the Sunday school from my infancy, grew up to manhood and taught the rising goneration what I believed, or rather tried to believe, the truths of what is called Holy Writ, I am now convinced ihe whole is a myth, and that the Church form of burial is superstition, and, therefore, is of no consequence'whatever. — I am, &c, Twos. G-. Lekch.
