THE HARBOUR QUESTION.
TO THE EDITOR, *• Sm^ — The published correspondence between Mr. J. K. ftees and Sir John Coode shows that not only has Mr. Bees failed to carry out the plain • and explicit instructions on the subject of his visit to England as conveyed to him in Mr. Wells' letter of the 3rd October, 1879, but also that Mr. Rees' conduct in the purchase of plant amounting to some £20,000 in opposition to Sir J. Coode 1 s advice and on his own sole responsibility has most certainly resulted in a loss of several thousands of pounds to the Harbour Board's funds. It is now a matter of credibility between direct contrary statements. Are wo to Relieve Mr. J. I\. Roes or Sir John Coode ? — I am, &c, Ratepayer. June 22. 1880.
