John Bright has been appointed Chancellor of Duchy of Lav. caster, the office which he held in the last Gladstone administration. ORIENT STEAMSHIP COMPANY. The annual meeting of the shareholders of the Oiient Steamship Company was held to-day, when a dividend of 5 per cent, was declared, in addition to 6 per cent, carried to the reserve fund. The Chairman made a speech, in which ho stated that all the Company's steamers would shortly be fitted with cold air machinery for carrying meat on freight for all-comers, like ordinary cargo. He also stated it was intended to increase the capital to one million. SOUTH SEA TRADING COMPANY. Berlin, April 28. The German Parliament has rejected the Bill which was introduced for the purpose of granting a subsidy to the South Sea Trading Company which took over Gottefroid's business at Samoa.
