LIBERAL AND CONSERVATISM.

Tl THE EDITOR.

Sir,— -In your issue last evoning a letter signed " New Arrival " appears in your correspondence columns, and it appears to me be lost his equilibrum at once ou arrival at tho antipodes in politics, otherwise he could not have studied them before coming hero, or ho would not have jumbled up Liberalism aud Conservatism in the way he has ; for I have found, in speaking to even old Colonials respecting the standing for two seats, the invariable reply has boon that Grey and Sheehau were following tho example of Mr. William Gladstone, the groat Liberal leador and called tho people's William. Has your correspondent forgo! ten that this gentleman stood for Greenwich and South Lancashire ? I would advise 'New Arrival" to rub the film from his eyes, and then he may be able to see that it is himself who has made the mistake, and not those who arrived at tho antipodes bofore him. — I am. &c,

Y.Z. Now Plymouth, September 15, 1879.

A correspondent writes :—": — " Com, mend me to the veterinary tnngaziues for big words. Fur instance, here is tho title of an article in the march number of one of them :: — 4 Extensive Supperative Myo-Carditos and Pericarditis, with Mitral and Aortic Stenosis, Eocentric Hypertrophy of the Heart, aud Carnifioation of the Lung Tissue, in a Pony.' Fancy all that in a pony !" ,
