It appeared from the evidence that the prisoner had stolen a double-barrelled gun, the property of Mr. C. Sampson, and sold the gun to a nativo at Waitotara. For the first offence lie was sentenced to three months imprisonment in the Wanganai gaol ; and for the second offence lie was committed to take his trial at the Supremo Court, Wanganui. Tho polling for the return of a Member for tho House of Representatives for the District of Egmont will taken place to-morrow betweca the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. ; and tho electors can record their votes at the fol. lowing polling places: — Toll-house, Omata (principal polling place) ; School-house, Omata ; School-house, Oakura ; Court-house, at Carlyle, Patea ; Block-house, Hawcra ; Block-house, Manntahi (Patea) ; Schoolhouse, Normanby ; Curtis' Store, Stratford ; School-house, Kakaramea. The nearest placo for the electors, who live iv town to go to, is the Omata Toll-gate, and we would impress on thorn tho necessity of being there before /our in tlte afternoon,
