The s.s. nannah Mokau is expected in the Woitara to-morrow from the Manukau.

The schooner Reward is expected at Wnitara from Kaipara, with a cargo of timber for Mr. Jones, of Raleigh.

The schooner Alert has sailed from Timaru for the Waitara, with a cargo of grain for Mr. McVicars, of the Sentry Hill mill.

We have been requested to remind the members of the Rifle Association that the firing for prizes takes place to-morrow ab one o'clock.

Tho Borough Council, the County Council, and Waste Lands Board, met yesterday, but wo arc compelled to hold over our reports till to-morrow.

The Committee of the Benevolent Society having fixed the first Tuesday iti each month as the time for their meetings, hold their second meeting this evening.

Tho nomination of candidates for the election of a member of the House of Rcprcson* tives, for the Town of New Plymouth, will be held in the Court-room of the Taranaki Institute to-morrow, at noon,

We have had to hold over several letters to the Editor and other matter, to make room for tho speeches of the various candidates. When our space is relieved of the pressure on it wo will endeavour to make room for those letters which the lapse of time has not made useless.

The nomination of candidates for the Borough took place yesterday, when Mr. W. Humphries, who was the only candidate nominated for the Central Ward, was declared duly elocted. The candidates for the East Ward are— Mr. J. C. Adams and Mr. W. Beale, and those for the West Ward— Mr. Bellringer and Mr. Mitchinson. The poll will take place on Thursday next, the 11th instant.
