A» NY person or porsons found INJURING JBl the TELEGRAPH POSTS, WIRE INHIfLATOfiS, or any portions of the Telegraph jjiho, will be proseouted in nooordnnoe with 6hj» following Clauses of " The Malicious Injuries to Property Aot, 1867 s"— .'Clause XXXVll.— Whosoever shall unlawfjilly and mnlioioosly out, break, throw down, destroy, injure, or remove any battery, machinery, wire, cable, post, or other matter or thing whatsoever, being part of or boing used or employed in or about any Elootrio or Magnetic Telegraph, or in the working thereof, or shall unlawfully and maliciously prevent or obstruct in any manner whntaoovor the sending, oonvoyanoe, or dolivory ot any oomainniontion by any suoh Telegraph, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour, and, being oonviotod thereof, shall bo liable, at the discretion of the Court, to be imprisoned for any term not exceeding two yearn, with or without hard labour : Provided that if it shall appear to any Justice, on the examination of any person oharged with any offence against this seotion, tbat it is not expedient to the ends of jastioe that tho same should be prose* anted by indictment, the Justice may prooeec summarily to bear and determine the same, and the Offender shall on oonviction thereof, at the discretion of the Justioe, either bo com* mitted to some pnblio gaol there to be imprisoned only, or to be imprisoned aud kept to hard labour for any term not exceeding three months, or else shall forfeit and pay suoh sum of money not eaoeeding ten pounds asrthe Jastioe shall seem meet.
