Sub-inspector Gordon, brother to tho lato Major Gordon, left Auckland for Taranaki by tho steamer to-day. His Excellency, by Proclamation in the Government (fazotte,han appointed Mr. Ralph Ilodgo Thompson to be a Member of the Board of Trustees for Public Recreation, in the room of Mr. John Gilmour, resigned. We have to acknowledge tho July number of " Bradshaw's Guide," which has been forwarded to us by the New Plymouth Agent — Mr. L. H. Cholwill. Wo find tho contents have boon corrected up to the very latest ; and altogether it is one of the mo3t useful publications issliod in New Zealand.
