The number of farms in Essex for which tenants cannot b 3 found is unparalleled. In this county alone it id ascertained that there are at least 183 farms of over 70 acres each on the hands of the landlords, and that many more will pass out of the tenants hands next Michaelmas. A London Sunday newspaper, not remarkable for its very delicate treatment of subjects aristocratic, was impudent enough to observe apropos of the Duke of Coimmighf. and the illustrated papers' jmssim thereupon :—": — " If these eight ' daughters of dukes, marquises,' and earls ' arc the best display of beauty the aristocracy can make, we think, at the next nobby marriage, Spiers and Pond should be asked to furnish the bridesmaids from among their barmaids. This would certainly make a better show."
