MAIL SERVICE. Auckland, May 29. Changes are at present being effected in the Auckland mail steamer agencies. The arrangements are now in progress by which Mr. Lunkins (who arrived by the Zealandia from Sydney), will probably assume the agency of the City ot Sydney and City of New York ; and Messrs. Owen and Graham will continue to act as agents Tor the Zealandia and Australia, the two English steamers. WAIKATO LANDS. In answer to Mr. Tonks, Mr. Tolo said that no official intimation whatever bad beeu received by him with reference to the transference of certain reserved lands in Waikato, by Government, to administration of the Laud Board. CRIMES IN AUCKLAND. Machel Rane was committed to trial for stabbing, likewise Barnaby Murphy for larceny. Two women named Ellen Mooney and Susan Duneen, were arrested by Detective Briuau and Constable Strathern for alleged theft of £18 from William Wrayford. FAILURES IN WELLINGTON. Wellington, May 29. Afc a meeting of the creditors of J. Dransfield, a deed of assignment was agreed to. A composition of 10s. in the £ was accepted in the estate of Huxley, tailor. GOVERNOR ENTERTAINED BY WELLINGTON CLUD. His Excellency was entertained at a dinner by members of the Wellington Club last night. GOLD DISCOVERY AT PICTON. Important discovery of a gold-beariug reef is reported from Picton. THE GOVERNOR VISITS AUCKLAND. His Excellency, Lady Robinson, and suite are expected to leave for Auckland, by the Hinemoa, at the end of the week. MEETING OF PARLIAMENT. Wellington, May 30. It is understood that Parliament will meet for the despatch of business on Friday, tbellth July. KILLED BY A FALL OF EARTH. Westport, May 29. At the inquest on the body of Angilo Banqueline, killed by a fall of earth, a verdici was returned of accidental death. EMBEZZLEMENT. Dunedin, May 29 At the Police Court to-day, Uuucan Steward Brown, collector for A. a:id T Ingles, was committed for trial for em bezzling £1 15s. 63.
