Baird's Waircre (Mould) 2 Sis entered for this event. Orange Lightning, splendidly ridden by Napoleon, cleared his fences in gallant style, and Avon, hard held, by twenty lengths. Wairere unfortunately fell at the first hurdle, but was quickly remounted by her jockey, and managed to secure second place.

Meremere and Gazelle ran n?ck a v d nock for the firsu round, when Baird called on Meremere, who graduall}' came away, and won in a canter by six lengths.
