WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The Board met ou Monday last, when the Waste Lands Commissioner (Mr. C. D. Whitcombe) presided. Present: Messrs. Kelly and Crompton. Plan of the Patea District. — A letter was read from Captain Wray, acknowledging the receipt of the resolution passed by the Board relative to preparing a plan of the Patea District, and saying the plan was being prepared, aud would be forwarded svhen finished. Application for a Block of Land. — A letter was read from Messrs. Boswell, Neal and Richardson, stating that two other names would be forwarded by the next Board meeting, and asking that the block of land between Messrs. Jones jvnd McMillan's boundary might be set aside for them to purchase on deferred payments. — Mr. Kelly asked what was the object of the application. — The Chairjiax suid he presumed they wished to get the laud on the deferred payment system, the same as Jones and Macmillan had. — Mr. Kelly said Messrs. Jones and McMillan put their claim forward as settlers coming from another Colony, and got the land for speoial settlement purposes. He did not see how they could deal with the application. Hie Land Recently offered at Auction. — The COMMISSIONER stated that he held a land sale on the previous Saturday, when there was not a single bid for any of the sections put up. — On the motion of Mr. Cromptox, seconded by Mr. Kelly, it was resolved, " That the unsold land in the Moo, Manganui, and Huirangi blocks be declared opeu for sale for cash on application, on the terms of section 2 of clause 7 of the ' Waste Lands Administration Act, 1876.' " The Board then adjourned till Tuesday, rhe 2nd January, at 2 p.m.
