Won by half ti length. Distance, one mile and a-half. Time, 2 mins. 43$ sees. THIRD DAY. SELLING RACE. Spritsail 1 Tommy Dodd 2 Kate 1 No Gentleman and Tto But also rau. Templcton 1 Guy Fawkes 2 Right Bower, Soinuambula, Hercules, Ngaro, Phoebe colt, Twitter, and Loughnea, also rau. The Phoebe colt passed tbe stand first by half a length, but was disqualified on a protest from the owner of Tcmpleton, on the ground of jostling. The rider lost.hold, of his rein, and the colt accidentally jostled Templeton. COXSOLATKHS- RACE. Cuy Fawkes 1 Tadmor , 2 Three others rau. Complaints have bten made in many quarters ab decision ol Stewards respecting the protest against Phoebe colt in the Flying Handicap. The Stewards admit evidence which shows the jostle to have been purely accidental. . A correspondent writes to tho Press on the subject ns follows •,—", — " 1 can assure you, sir., that a great authority on racing matters, Admir.il Rouse, has decided on many occasions that " accidental cannoning is not foul riding, and should not disqualify a winning horse, and I would diffidently bring -under your notice a similar occurrence which took place at Wanganui, at the race meeting in December last, when Haricot (Melbourne Cup winner) cangoned against tho Diver, wheu close to the winning post, aud thereby deprived Diver from winniug the race. Lloyd, tho owner of Diver, being too much a sportsman to enter n protest. Auckland Divorce Case. — In the Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Court, at Wellington on the 22nd iustant, a case was heard : Foukes v. Foukes aud Croas, co-respondent. The petitioner applied fora dissolution of marriage upon the ground thiit tho wife committed adultery with the CD-respondent (Cross) iv 1806, at Howick, Auqkland, where the parties were married. The reason given for the petitioner not making application for dissolution sooner was want of means. The respondent admitted the charge,';slio having been living with Cross vow for eight years, at Wellington. A dissolution wns granted, and a common jury assessed damages at £100. PROCLAMATIO-N.
