Sib, — I hope you will allow me space for inserting these few remarks in your paper. On Thursday at half-past one we left Poutoko to proceed to Bell Block. When we arrived at Mr. Cook's Hotel it was ten minutes to 10. As soon as the landlord of the hotel heard us coming he blew out the lijrht. We then knocked at the door of the hotel and asked the landlord for supper and bed. He said that as for supper he had none. We told him that we were travellers who had come from Pontoko with the stone crushing machine, aud that we must have Eome ; that wo should have been there sooner but for unavoidable accidents over which we had uo control. We then had to take our cattle about half a mile off, as he had no accommodation for them. Ou our way back we called at tho other hotel and asked for a supper and a bed. He also said he could give us neither. Now, sir, it is customary in other colonies for the magistrate or Justice of the Peace, before granting a license, to sec that the applicant has every accommodation for tho public, which neither of the two hotels at Bell Block have. My advice to any one travelling to Bell Block is to carry their rations with them, aud their blankets also, for if they depend upon either of the two hotels they will be depending on a brokeu stick. Hoping that when the)' next apply for tho renewing of their Hocuses that the magistrate will impress the fact on their minds that they are bound by law to provide accommodation for travellers.— l am, &c, A Traveller.
