Tenders. __' ISSUE OF £50,000 NEW ZEALAND GO YE RN MBNT DB BENTURBS UNDER "THE WESTLAND LOAN ACT, 1873." Treasury, Wellington, April 9, 1874. rTENDERSare invited for the purchase JL of the whole or any portion of Fifty Thousand Pounds New Zealand Government Debentures, issued under the Act of the Legislature of tbe Colony, entitled, " The W.estland Loan Act, 1873." By the Act above cited, the principal sum to be raised, and the interest thereon, are charged on the Consolidated Revenue of the Colony ; a special block of land of 250,000 acres in extent, being set apart as security to the Colony for the amount to be raised. The Tenders will be received and the Debentures issued subject to the undermentioned conditions :—: — 1. The Debentures will be payable to bearer, and will be issued in sums of not less than On« Hundred Pounds each. 2. The Debentures will bear interest at the rate of 5 percent, per annum, payable half-yearly, on the loth day of April aud tbe 15th day of October in each year, at the Treasury at Wellington, or at any Branch ofthe Bank of New Zealand in New Zealand, on notice given at the Treasury one month before the due date. 3. The principal sum will be payable on the loth day of April, 1894-, at the Treasury at Wellington, or at any Branch ofthe Bank of New Zealand in New Zealand, at the option of the holder, six months' notice beiug required, previous to maturity, of the place at which paymeut is desired. 4. Tenders will be opened at the Treasury at Wellington, at noon, on Friday, the Ist day of May next, in the presence of such of the tenderers as desire to bo present, — the minimum price under seal. being first placed on the table. In the event of equal tenders being received for a sura in excess of the issue, a pro mta distribution will be made. 5. The amount tendered for must be paid at the Treasury at Wellington as under : — Five per cent, accompanying application ; the balance on or before the Bth May. On payment of the balance of purchase money, Debentures signed by the Agents appointed under the Act will be forwarded, at the risk of the Government, to purchasers or their nominees. Ha'f per cent, brokerage will be allowed to brokers through whose applicatious sales are effected. Applications by telegraph, received not later than 10 o'clock a.m. on the Ist May, will be accepted, provided they are accompanied by a telegram from the Manager of any Branch or Agencj' of the Bank of New Zealand notifying that the necessary deposit has been paid into the Bank of New Zealand to the credit of a Loan Deposit Account. If 110 allotment be made, the 5 per cent, deposit will be returned in full ; and if a portion only of the amount be allotted, the surplus will be applied in payment of the balance.
