Live Stock Mabkrt. — Messrs. Huntor and Nolnn report that there were an increased number of horses entered for snle by auction, and although spveral were not brought forward, quite the nvorago number were submitted. There was also a littjo improvement in tho stamp, and prices vroro maintained, although some fow were withdrawn for higher rntes. Rcully good drauarht stock are enquired for, and young broo i mares of this desci iption would find purchasers. They qnote backs, from £9 to £l'> 6s ; light harness horncs, from £15 to £23. Cattle were in fair supply. The d.iiry cows and grown steers were of very indifferent description, but yountr .cattle wore fairly represented. Ibe fat beasts ex 'Go-ahoad,* from wanijanui, were well fatted ; and, with ono or two exceptions, came to the market in very good order, and met moro spirited competition than the provincial fed. At the opening, bidding vm rather languid, bat as tho sale proceeded became bri k, a^d 2>:s per 100 lbs. was obtained for top sorts. They qnoto dairy cows, £7 to £9 6s ; yearling and weaned calves, £1 7s to £2 12s Gd ; two-year-old steers. £•* each. The Newmarket pens wcro well filled with shesp. Tho stores woro of inferior description, and did not command attontion. Ewes sold nt 15s ; ewe lambs at Ifls ; fat shep from 2s to 2b Oil per 8 lbs j lambs, ins to 18s. Figs were scarep, but in brisk demand at Sd per lb., livo weight. Pkoduce. —Mr. Binnoy reports the prodneo market firm.
