Colonel Lyon expressed himself well pleased both by tho conduct, discipline, and appearance of the men ; and this would havo been confirmed by any one witnessing them at drill. They certainly are well trained in the manual, platoon, and bayonet exorcise, which certainly reflects great credit upon thoir drill-instructor. They have gono to Pukura, for the purpose of building aud occupying a redoubt. Tho men were evidently very much surprised when they arrived hero to find everything so quiet, for thoir wives, Bweethearts, &c, all thought they were off to the seat of war, whioh onby shows how aff.iirs transacted j here are magnified, not only in this Provinoe, but in others." Death of Mr.. Henry Redwood of Nelson. We notice by the Nelson papers that Mr. Henry Redwood died on the 19th iustant, aged sevoutynino years. In thedaysof his prosperity ho did not forget to administer to the wants of others, and he and Mrs. Redwood aro known far aud wide for their kindness and hospitality, aud their willingness to assist all who were in distress. Until attacked by tho disease, which, aftor many woary months of suffering, ultimately carried him off, Mr. Rodwood never knew what it was to havo a day's illness, and his stalwart form and genial hearty manner were well kuown to all Nolsou settlors.
