What we may Expect to Hear.— The Nelson Colonist contradicting an exaggerated statement thai appeared in the Nelson Examiner relative to Mr. Yogel, says—" We have referred in another article, to ' personality. 1 Fabrications liko this is that kind of personality from which the prudes of the press would do well to pnrify themselves. But this little attack — little in more ways thaa one — together with the article above alluded to, will show what the Ministry may look for in Nelson. Periodical assanlts from a portion of the press, inspired and directed by its Opposition surroundings ; and, by-and-bye, some stone throwing from the platform." Religious Monomania.-— A most distressing case of religions monomania was brought before the Police Court at Auckland on the 10th Sop* tember. The affidavit of Dr. Qoldsbro, which is rendered necessary under the new Act, deposed as follows j— " Acting nnder the authority of the Court, I, this day, visited Robert Byatfc, residing in Wellington -street, and found him a lunatic. His delusions are of a religious monomaniacal type. He imagines that he is just arisen from death and hell, that the stars desended last night to him, that he is now saved from damnation, and that I and the remainder of the world are condemned." The affidavit of Dr. Bayntnm discloses that the unfortunate man, although natnrally religions, was quoting texts of Scripture and using fearful oaths alternately.— #ouf/<m* Cross.
