— The Neic Zealand Herald takes the followjng extracts from a private letter received by tho Panama mail from a gentleman in Halifax, Nova Scotia, dated 31st December, 1867 :— " During the month of June next, a vessel will, leave hero with over 70 passengers, for Wangarei direct. The vessel will be owned by ten or twelve of the passengers, and will bo for sale on arrival out. The gentlemen organising the party -have not quite decided whether they go to Wangarei (Wanganui ? ) or New Plymouth direct. I perceive by the papers that there is a brigantine the ' Helen,' laid on to New Zealand from St. Johns, New Brunswick, bat the port in New Zealand is not mentioued." Relative to the above* paragraph the Herald says respecting the brigantine ' Helen ' laid on to this colony from St. Johns, New Brunswick, we are informed her destination is Wanganui calling at Wellington.
