public Notices. NOTICE. THE attention of OWNERS of SHEEP is reqnested to the following clauses in the Scab Ordinance, 1866 :—: — | 17. Every p owner ' of Sheep shall iv J the month of January, in every year deliver or cause to be delivered to | the Chief Inspector of Sheep, a written returnof the number of Sheep owned by him or under his charge on the Ist January in such year, specifying in such return tho brands and to the best of his ability the permanent, marks upon such Sheep. Every person refusing or neglecting to deliver or cause to bo delivered such returns as aforesaid, or wilfully making a falso return, shall be liable to a penalty of not less fchan Two Pounds and not exceeding Twenty Pounds. 18. Every owner of Sheep shall on or before the Ist day of April in every yoar pay to the Provincial Treasurer or such other person as may be authorised to receive the same, the sum of One Penny for each and every Sheep owned by him on the Ist day of January preceding, and specified in the return furnished by him as above provided. All aud every such yeSrly sum or sums of money payable as aforesaid, shall in case the sum bo not paid on or before the Ist day of April, be adobt owing by the owner of such Sheep to the Superintendent, and may be sued for and secovered as such by summary proceedings. 23. Whenever the owner of any Sheep shall become aware or shall have reasonable ground to suspect that the same are infected with scab, he shall within teu days thereof g-ive notice in writing to the Inspector of Sheep acting for the district in which such Sheep are, either by delivering the same personally or by leaving the same at his office or usual place of abode, aud every person who shall fail to give such notice shall for each offence be subject to a penalty not exceeding Fifty Pounds.
