NOTICE-POSTAL. A POST OFFICE has been established at A Manutaih, at the office of G. Marshall, No. 2 Company T.M.S., Commissariat Issuer. Mails will be closed at this Office for Manutahi, every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, at one, p.m. Letters for persons resident at the several posts at Manutahi, Sentry Hill, &c, will be sent out to the Ptfst Office at Manutahi, unless specially desired to be retained at the Chief Post Office. Letters can be registered and stamps purchased at the Manutahi Post Office, and money orders procured by return of post, on application being made- in the printed form which can be had from th_e Postmaster. New Plymouth, April 8", Provincial Government Prizes. HPHE New Plymouth Provincial Council X having voted fifteen Revolvers to be fired for by the Taranaki Militia, Volunteers, and Military Settlers, they will be competed for by the Militia and Volunteers, commencing at 10 o'clock, a.m., on the sth June, 1865, at the Militia Rifle Range, weather and the state of the Province permitting. The Military Settlers will fire at their respective posts on the above date, or as soon after as targets can be provided for them. Captains of the Militia and Volunteers will choose the markers, and attend on the days of firing to assist Captain Cumming in carrying out the terms undermentioned. Captain Stapp, Lieutenant Clarke, Instructor of Musketry, and Sergeant Gloagy T.M.S., will attend the firing of the Military Settlers, the two latter to assist the captains and officers commanding companies, who will be responsible for the correctness of the return of the firing. The following are the terms for firing : A revolver to be given to each of the ten bestshots with the regulation rifle or breech- , loading rifle, No 30 bore. The firing to be according to the regulations for H.M. service up to three hundred yards, with the exception of the position, which may be kneeling or otherwise, but without artificial rest. Ties to be fired off at three hundred yards. Should any question arise regarding the eligibility of the rifles, to be settled by Lieutenant-Colonel Lepper. A revolver will be given to each of the five best shots with five or six-chamber revolvers. Five shots at each distance of 15,25, and 40 yards. Captains and officers commanding companies of the above forces will have the goodness to forward to this office, not later than the 25th May proximo, the names of their men who wish to compete, and with what weapon. No one will be allowed to fire whose name is not entered on the list called for. Should any competitor absent himself when his turn comes to fire, he is to forfeit his chance and a shot be fired in the air, whioh the marker will score as a miss, in order to keep the number on the list correct. No competitor to load his rifle before coming to the spot from which he ig to fire". No competitor is to let the cock of his rifle down when an unexploded cap is on the nipple, but to keep it at half cock. Ammunition provided by the- Government. M.
