LOSS OF THE ABEONA— FURTHER PARTICULARS.

The fdte of the schooner Abeona, which has heretofore been a matter of great doubt, seems now in a great measure cleared "up by the finding of her boat, full of water, on the beacb, about six miles from, and msido of, Paratntai, the signal station. It appears that two or three weeks ago Sergeant Giffney was engaged logging for Mr. Shalders near the Huia, at a place called Hakamarama, just after the heavy gale of wind in which the Bombay and others BiuTerecl so much. At that time, just as the tide was ebbing, he perceived a boat painted green, and about 16 feet long, being just awash, and full of water, and full of water, and he got it up and took it to Mill Bay. Some time afterwards he read the account in this journal of the supposed loss of the Abeona, and thinking it probable that the boat might help to elucidate tlie mystery, brought it up to O..ehUnga, where, on its boing shown to Mr. Kirkwbou, he immediately identified it as the Abeona's boat. Or course this can leave but little doubt of the fate of the vessel. It is now believed that, finding the vessel in a sinking condition, the crew took to the boat, and in attempting to enter the channel of the Manukau were Bwamped. The Abeona left Wanganui on the 7th March last, but had cleared on tho 4tb, so that this would correspond with the time of finding the boat pretty nearly. The names of her crew were B.E.King, master; Arthur Campbell, mate; Antony, a foreigner, cook; William Henderson, A.8., and D. Buohanan, A.B.— ' Weekly News,' April 15.
