Hokitika, May 1, G r.M. The s.s. ‘ Tararua,’ Rouse, commander, arrived at Hokitika last night, at six o’clock, after a passage of 5 days 2 hours from Melbourne. A boiler explosion has occurred on the American Reef, at Cohlman’s claim, by which one man was killed.—Another happened on the United Catherine Reef, by which three men were severely scalded. Some proposals have been made to send a steamer to look after the missing vessel Magnet. The vagueness of the information as to the position of the wreck alleged to have been seen lias led to the abandonment of the proposal. Ralph Drummond, the oldest Presbyterian minister in the colony, is dead. Mr J. D.
