FESTIVE APPEARANCE

COLOURED LIGHTS & GREENERY IN KING ST. DUE TO PROGRESS LEAGUE Temuka’s main thoroughfare presented a gay and festive appearance last evening, as a result of the Progress League’s activities in erecting strings of coloured lights across the street, and greenery around all verandah posts. About a week ago, after the Borough Council had refused to grant anything towards the scheme, the League made a canvass of the bush* ness houses of the town, and collected the necessary money to decorate the street. The lights were erected on Wednesday afternoon, and the current was switched on on Thursday evening. the greenery was delivered to every shop and office in the street, and last night the combined effect of the lights and the green foliage was undoubtedly beautiful', and the League and its supporters must feel amply repaid. Thdi lights will be on until January 2.
