ORARI WOMEN’S INSTITUTE A delightful afternoon was spent in the. Sunday School, Orari, ou Thursday, this being the third of a series of afternoons promoted by Hie Orari Women's Institute. Airs Alacdonald (president) demonstrated the making of mocassins. A large attendance of residents was present. WAITEA REBEivAH LODGE The Waitea Rebekah Lodge held their fortnightly euchre and dance in the Oddfellows Hall on Thursday evening. Tlie successful card players for the evening were Airs Hutcheson and Airs Donnithorne (ladies), and Messrs Burrows and Leonard (men). After supper had been served, the evening was continued with dancing, for which Air J. Rickus supplied music, and Mr K. Sehvyn acted as AT.C. The function closed with the singing of “Anld Lang Syne.” MAORIS GIVE CONCERT To aid the funds of the Raugitata Island Hall Committee, the Arowhemui Maoris, at the invitation of the chairman of the committee (Air Ross Broclio) gave one of their popular entertainments in tlie hall, before a packed audience. r Associated with the Maori party, ■ which comprised 21 al! Paper hats, streamers and confetti added much to Hie enjoyment of those present, A "‘Monte Carlo’’ dunce was wo a by Air W. Duke and partner. Music was supplied by Air C. Kollaiul, extras being played by Misses N. Holland. Al. Clayton, and Air G. Wallace. Messrs ;S. Parke and Alex. AlcLaren carried mil the duties of Al.C.'s. During the evening Air Done-hue presented Aliss Flett with a large key from the young people present. Other speakers were Air J. M. Craig and Hr A. lleer. Air G. Mulligan replied on behalf of Air and Airs Flett. Air H. T. Dunn then took the opportunity to present the guest of honour, on behalf of the Clandcboye Reading Circle, with a beautiful initialled handbag. Aliss Flett suitably replied. She was also the recipient of many other beautiful presents. The singing of “Aulci Lang Syne” brought mi enjoyable evening to a close. i.
