METHODISTS VISIT WINCHESTER Amid pleasant surroundings ant iir close proximity to a convenient stream, safe for the little oiies tc paddle in, yet affording ample deptl: in places for swimmers, the Metho. dist picnic, was held at Mrs Lewis's property at Winchester. A very large number of children and adults attended, constituting the largest, picnic for some years. Races and games were a feature of the outing, lunch being provided by .he picnickers themselves. Mi Gunnion presented Mrs Shepherd, Miss Andrew and Miss E. .Miles each with a cup, saucer and plate, a!s a token, of appreciation from the yjoung people for the work done in connection with the recent 'Annirersjary. Mr Gunnion thanked Mrs Shepherd for the invitation to be present at the picnic. He told of tjhe first Salvation Army picnic held 4,5. years ago, and also said he was sorry to hear that Major- and Mrs Miles had been transferred. ;■ Cheers were given for Mrs Shepherd, Miss Andrew, Miss Miles, Mr Butler, Mr- Gunnion and l ' Mr Mclnnes. During (he morning, the shearing sheds were visited, where shearing was in progress, and where the principles of machine-shearing were fully explained. About 11.30 a.m. all gathered into one large group, and lunch was supplied by many willing helpers.
