POLL TO BE TAKEN.

ON HALF HOLIDAY QUESTION. AT TEMUKA AND CERAiLDiINE. At the Temuka Borough Council meeting last evening, Mr ‘W. S. Blyth- forwarded a requisition signed by 186 ratepayers asking that a poll he taken at the municipal election, to declare which day iii the week shall be statutory half holiday. The Town Clerk reported that he had checked the names to the best of his ability and they seemed to he alright. On the- main foil they had 1216 names, and the petition contained 186 names, amdi as one-tenth of the electors would, he 122, there were the necessary number on the petition. Cr. On the motion of Crs Mclmies and Buzan it was decided that a poll he taken. THE HALF-HOLIDAY QUESTION. AT GERALDINE. Eighty electors within the Borough presented a petition requesting, the Council to take a poll to decide which day shall he observed as the weekly half-holiday in Geraldine. Hr. Dr. Paterson moved — "That a-poll be taken to decide the Weekly : half-holiday.V This was seconded ■ and carried.
